Terms of Service

Last updated: May 2025

Acceptance

By using Arbor you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

What Arbor is

Arbor is a developer credentialing platform. It reads your public GitHub activity, generates a skill assessment using AI, and lets peers attest to skills they have observed you demonstrating. The result is a profile you can share.

Arbor is currently in beta. Features may change, break, or be removed without notice.

Your responsibilities

  • You must connect a GitHub account you own.
  • You may not use Arbor to submit false attestations or manufacture credentials.
  • You may not attempt to circumvent abuse limits, scrape the platform, or interfere with other users.
  • Peer raters are asked to attest only to behaviors they have genuinely observed. Submitting false attestations violates these terms.

GitHub data

Arbor accesses your public GitHub repositories under the public_repo OAuth scope. We comply with GitHub's terms of service and acceptable use policies. We do not access private repositories.

No warranties

Arbor is provided as-is without warranties of any kind. Skill assessments are AI-generated estimates — they are not certifications and should not be represented as such to employers without appropriate context. Peer attestations represent individual opinions, not verified facts.

Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by law, Arbor's liability for any claim arising out of your use of the service is limited to the amount you paid for the service in the past 12 months (which for free-tier users is $0).

Termination

We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these terms. You may delete your account at any time from Settings.

Changes

We may update these terms. Material changes will be communicated by email or in-app notice. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance.
